LVITC volunteer at Lincolnshire Cricket Table Cricket qualifier, umpiring the Plate Final!

On Wednesday 22nd February 2023, Little Victories in the Community (LVITC) headed to Louth to support the County Northern Qualifier of the Lord's Taverner's Table Cricket national competition.

LVITC volunteer Sophie Bartup and LVFC (our cerebral palsy football team) Welfare Officer Steph Atkinson attended with the aim to gain an insight into the world of table cricket, in order to understand how it could be delivered in North Lincolnshire to expand the areas inclusive sport offer locally.

In what was a fun filled day, Sophie and Steph joined forces to umpire on Table One, even officiating the Plate Final between Cambridge Park and John Leggott College 2.

After embarking on a series of conversations on the day, including with Neil Wheeler who runs 2020 Community Sport CIC, a meeting will be set up between Neil and LVITC to establish a taster session of Table Cricket in Barton-upon-Humber. An incredibly exciting development for our provision.

Not only did the day prove super exciting, our volunteers were able to see first hand the monumental impact of Table Cricket on young people and how the sport can help inspire those that play it to reach their own sporting potential.

LVITC would like to thank Lincolnshire Cricket Disability Officer Neil Wheeler for making our volunteers feel incredibly welcome and involved.

Sophie Bartup of LVITC said:

"Myself and Steph really did have a tremendous day, we loved umpiring and were able to celebrate in the success of all teams. We are delighted that we will be meeting with Neil in the near future, and are dedicated to expanding our inclusive sport offer within the Humber area. Thank you to everyone for their support today, and to Justin for the drinks."

Neil Wheeler provided Sophie and Steph with a tutorial of the rules on the day, which led to our volunteers umpiring the Plate Final.

We would like to say thank you to Sophie and Steph for volunteering their time to represent LVITC and if you would like to know more about our inclusive sport offer, please get in touch:
