On Saturday 10th May, Little Victories Football Club proudly hosted a special wheelchair skills workshop in collaboration with Go Kids Go, a leading organisation that provides education and training for young wheelchair users and their families. The event took place at NL Active Baysgarth Leisure Centre, replacing our usual weekly football session and it was a huge success, full of learning, laughter, and plenty of action.
Go Kids Go has a strong reputation for delivering engaging and practical workshops across the country, and many of our own players have benefited from their expertise in the past. However, this latest collaboration, organised jointly with Little Victories, was a unique opportunity to build on those experiences and provide our players with even greater confidence and independence in their use of wheelchairs.

The day began on a high-energy note with a game of wheelchair bulldog, setting the tone for the rest of the workshop. The fun then shifted into a more educational gear, with hands-on instruction in tackling kerbs and ramps, essential skills for everyday mobility.
One of the highlights of the day was the wheelchair dancing session. Our players truly impressed with their rhythm and creativity, showing off some excellent moves that had everyone smiling. The workshop concluded with a spirited game of wheelchair basketball, which saw not just the players but also parents and guardians getting involved in a friendly (yet competitive!) match that capped off the day perfectly.
Nina parent to Freya shared, “Freya had such a fantastic time. It was amazing to see her learning new skills and gaining so much confidence. We’re really grateful for this opportunity.”
Little Victories FC would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Emily and Roy from Go Kids Go for delivering such a valuable and enjoyable workshop. We look forward to continuing this fantastic partnership in the future.
